YATESVILLE — Pittston Area School District will hold its kindergarten registration for the 2016-17 school year. Children must be 5 years old by Aug. 31, 2016 to register. Parents may register in one of the following ways or access the online registration site: www.pittstonarea.com.

The kindergarten screening process will take place from 9 to 11 a.m. and from 1 to 3 p.m. April 4-7 at the Pittston Area Primary Center, Rock Street, Hughestown. A parent or guardian must bring the student to the Primary Center during the screening dates. Each child will receive hearing and vision screening, and a Reading Readiness Assessment, which is an assessment of pre-reading skills, consisting of two parts: identifying letters of the alphabet and phonemic awareness assessment.

Each child’s immunization history will be reviewed. The following immunizations are required: 4 doses of diphtheria and tetanus vaccine (one dose administered on or after the fourth birthday); 3 doses of polio vaccine; 3 doses of hepatitis B vaccine; 2 doses of measles, mumps and rubella (MMR); 2 doses varicella vaccine (chicken pox) or proof of disease. Students will be be screened alphabetically, A-F, April 4; G-L, April 5; M-R, April 6; S-Z, April 7.
