WILKES-BARRE — Relief from the recent hot weather will hit the Wyoming Valley today, but isolated thunderstorms with heavy rainfall is possible this afternoon.

The chance of rain today is near 100 percent with highs in the upper 60s. Showers are likely tonight with lows in the 50s. Chance of rain tonight is 70 percent.

The National Weather Service reported that it was 68 degrees at 7 a.m. at the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Airport.

Friday is expected to be mostly cloudy in the morning then becoming partly sunny. Highs will be in the upper 70s. It will be mostly clear Friday night with highs in the upper 50s.

The start to the weekend will feature scattered showers Saturday with highs in the 70s. There is a 70 percent chance of rain Saturday night.
