Rain and heavy wind is expected throughout the region on Thursday.

The National Weather Service reported it was 59 degrees at 6:54 a.m. at the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport.

The high today will be near 60 degrees with a chance of rain at 100 percent. Up to an inch of rain is possible throughout the day. According to the National Weather Service, strong gusty winds are expected this morning with gusts between 35 and 45 miles per hour, especially in the higher terrain.

There will be scattered showers tonight before 9 p.m. with a chance of rain at 30 percent.

Friday will be mostly sunny with a high near 48. Increasing clouds will take over the region on Friday night with a low near 28.

A partly sunny day is expected for Saturday with scattered showers on Saturday night.
