Fangirls Fan Club meeting Dec. 17

PITTSTON — The Fangirls Fan Club will meet at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 17 at the Pittston Memorial Library to decoupage shoes with old book pages. Sturdy, smooth surfaced shoes will work best. No sneakers. To register, call the front desk at 570-654-9565 or email

Children ages 18 months to age 5 can bring their grownup to the library for fun story, craft and free play from 6 to 6:45 p.m. on Monday evenings. Registration is required by calling the library and this program concludes on Monday, Nov. 14.

Tales on Tuesday with Miss Kristin features age-appropriate stories, songs, activities and free play. Registration is required by calling 570-654-9565, ext. 26. Sign-ups are available in the children’s wing. This program concludes on Tuesday, Dec. 15.

Adults 18 and over are invited to come to the library for Christmas coloring at 1 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 18. There will be instrumental music, treats and Christmas coloring pages.

Children ages 7 and up are invited to the library for a fun science activity. The next meeting will be held at 4 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 21.

Adult computer classes will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. every Thursday. The class goes over email, mouse skills and web surfing. Registration is required by calling the library.

Volunteer opportunities are available at the library. Opportunities include helping in the library, or with the Friends of the Pittston Memorial Library group. If interested, fill out a volunteer form at the front desk.

Board games for all ages are available at the front desk and can be used anytime.

Children ages 3 to 11 are invited to the Lego Club from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. every Wednesday at the Pittston Memorial Library.

The 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten Program at the library is free and open to all children in the community from birth to kindergarten. The child will receive a bag with an age-appropriate book to keep in his or her collection.


Pain your own ornament Dec. 16

WEST PITTSTON — Paint Your Own Ornament & Coffee at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 16 at the West Pittston Library. Enjoy a cup of coffee or tea while decorating an ornament to give as a gift to someone special or for yourself. Cost for the event is $5 per person. Paint Your Own Ornament & Wine at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 17. Join Adult Programming Coordinator Jen Moran to decorate a glass ornament for yourself or as a gift. Looking for inspiration? Get kids in their holiday jammies and head to the library to make homemade ornaments at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 19. The program is for all ages, with parent assistance for younger children. Call 570-654-9847 or stop at the library to register.

Antiheroes in Literature Book Discussion will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Thursdays. The group includes an informal discussion and refreshments while examining popular fiction’s more unconventional characters. Call the library to register for this free program.

The West Pittston Library Book Club meets at 6:30 p.m. on the first Thursday of every month.

The Library Laboratory is back every Tuesday at 6 p.m. to continue engaging kids ages 9 and up in science-based, hands-on learning activities. Measure, mix, compare, experiment and test in a fun environment. Class size is limited.

Kindergarten Readiness Program will be held at 1 p.m. every Friday. This early-literacy enhanced program is designed to introduce children to the library, get them interested in books and develop the skills needed for school. Register by Wednesday of each week.


Pre-school story time Dec. 14

WYOMING — Pre-school story time for children between ages 3 and 5 will be held from 11 a.m. to noon on Monday, Dec. 14 at the Wyoming Free Library.

Holiday hours are as follows:

Monday, Dec. 21 – 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Tuesday, Dec. 22 – 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Wednesday, Dec. 23 – 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Dec. 24, 25, 26 – Closed

A holiday wish list tree has been set up at the library. Patrons can choose an ornament from the tree and purchase the book in honor of a friend or family member. An honorarium book plate will be placed in the book. The wish list has a variety of titles to choose from. Contact the library for more information.

The library will hold a discussion group during the final season of “Downton Abbey.” The first discussion will be from 5 to 6 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 4. A special finale tea will be held during the last group discussion.

The Crocheting Club meets every Wednesday from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.
