Commuters could encounter both minor and heavy traffic congestion on the way into work and school this morning.

Free-flowing traffic is reported on Interstates 81 and 476. Scattered minor traffic congestion is reported on Route 315, while minor and some heavy congestion is reported on Route 115 in the area of East Mountain Boulevard.

The North Cross Valley Expressway is free of congestion, but some could be encountered on the off-ramps.

Near the Wyoming Valley Mall, scattered areas of heavy traffic congestion are reported on Kidder and Mundy streets.

In and around the downtown area, scattered minor and heavy traffic congestion are reported. Affected streets include:

• Wilkes-Barre / South Wilkes-Barre boulevards

• Hazle Street

• North / South Pennsylvania avenues

• East / West Market streets

• Public Square

• North / South Main streets

• North / South River streets

Commuters traveling on South Franklin Street should also use caution, as crews will be installing traffic signals at Wilkes University’s crosswalk in the area.

In Kingston, scattered minor and heavy traffic congestion is reported on Market Street and Wyoming Avenue.
