Rain expected today, snow possible into the weekend

Rain is expected in the Wyoming Valley Today, and some snow is also predicted for the weekend.

Otherwise, the region can expect some sunshine and colder temperatures.

The National Weather Service indicated that it was 49 degrees as of 6:54 a.m. at the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport, with overcast skies reported.

A chance of showers or drizzle will become rain after 11 a.m. this afternoon. A 90 percent chance of rain is predicted, and a quarter of an inch of rainfall is possible. Today’s high will be near 52.

Rain will continue to be likely before midnight tonight, followed by a slight chance of showers into the overnight hours. Less than a tenth of an inch of rain is expected, and the low will be around 37.

Partly sunny skies will round out the week on Friday, with a high near 39. Mostly cloudy skies are expected on Friday night, with scattered flurries predicted after 1 a.m. The low will be around 27.

Scattered snow showers will be possible before 1 p.m. on Saturday, with scattered flurries possible into the afternoon hours. Partly sunny skies are expected otherwise, with a high near 33.

Partly cloudy skies are predicted for Saturday night, with a low around 24.

Mostly sunny skies will round out the week on Sunday, with a high near 39. Partly cloudy skies are expected into Sunday night, with a low around 30.
