Letter writer talks about plan to fix infrastructure in West Pittston, Exeter and Wyoming

Dear Editor:

Over recent months, State Representative Aaron Kaufer has reached out to the borough officials of Wyoming, Exeter and West Pittston in a nonpartisan effort to address sewer and drainage issues plaguing these towns. Mr. Kaufer arranged several meetings in his office where Republican and Democrat council and mayors sat at one table to formulate plans to share state grant monies collectively among our group.

Republican Representative Kaufer teamed up with Democrat Senator John Yudichak to rally support at the state level and win approval of funds to be used initially at the border of West Pittston and Exeter boroughs. These funds would not have become available had our towns applied individually. Through the cooperation of my fellow borough officials of Exeter and Wyoming, we are now able to begin solving some of our infrastructure issues over the next three years in all three towns.

In this era when party fighting and lines in the sand have become much too common, it is refreshing to be a part of a nonpartisan effort to achieve the common good for our local communities. Much thanks are extended to our Republican representative and our Democrat senator for their continued passion to help their constituents.

Wishing everyone a very happy holiday season and best wishes for a healthy and prosperous 2016.
