PITTSTON — A Polish Day Special Lunch will be held at noon on Thursday, Jan. 28.

Reservations are now open for a trip to the Sands Casino on Wednesday, April 6 and to the Hollywood Casino on Wednesday, May 25. For further information or to make a reservation contact Connie Kokinda, Center Director at 570-655-5561. Get your reservation in early as these trips fill up fast.

The 2016 bowling league is now forming. Bowling will begin at 1 p.m. Thursdays and continue for 14 weeks. For further information, contact Connie Kokinda at the center.

Ceramic Class with Ann is held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesdays while Bingo with Ron and Amy is held from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday and Friday mornings and also from 1 to 3 p.m. on Wednesday afternoons.

Shuffleboard matches are held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday mornings when the men challenge the women. Helen Shannon is the captain.

Craft class with Faye and Roseanne is held at 10 a.m. on Thursday mornings and Wii Bowling with John is offered as well.

The center offers ballroom dance lessons with Joseph Kull, instructor at 2 p.m. on Fridays.

Exercise classes are offered at the center at 9 a.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Healthy Steps classes with Ruth and Catherine are held at 11 a.m. Tuesdays. Sit and Be Fit chair exercise classes with Sandi are held at 9 a.m. Thursdays. There is no charge for these classes. Zumba Gold classes with Tony are held from 1:30 to 2:15 p.m. Tuesdays. Cost per class is $2.

The Pitch group meets at 1 p.m. each Tuesday and Thursday.

The Bridge Club is now formed and will meet at 1 p.m. each Friday. A wide variety of card games are offered at the center and new players are always welcome to join.

The center is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Free coffee is available from 8:30 a.m. to closing.

Lunch is served at noon Monday to Friday. Asking donation is $2 for those 60 years of age or older and $4.62 for those under 60 years of age. Reservations must be made by noon at least one day in advance. To make reservations, call the center at 570-655-5561.

FALLS ACTIVE ADULT CENTER

Polish lunch will be Jan. 28

EXETER TWP. — There will be a special Polish lunch and discussion at the Falls Active Adult Center on Thursday, Jan. 28.

Afterwards Joan Krispin, LPN, admissions director for The Meadows, will be at the center from 12:25 to 12:50 p.m. to check blood pressures. Krispin will sponsor the bingo game afterwards at 1 p.m.

The center is offering an educational series in January entitled “A Matter of Balance.” This program is being hosted by Margaret Austin, RN, a master trainer for a “Matter of Balance” through Geisinger. Austin is also the trauma outreach prevention coordinator. This class is being offered from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesdays and Thursdays through the month of January. The program is designed to help people remain in their own home safely.

Residents will paint clay pots or make Valentine wreaths on Mondays Feb. 1 and 8

Book Club will meet at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 1 to discuss “Fast Food Nation: The Dark Side of the All-American Meal” by Eric Schlosset.

Krisiti Green, RN from Traditional Hospice, will be on hand at 12:15 p.m. Monday, Feb. 8 to discuss “How to Maintain a Healthy Heart.” Green will check blood pressures from 12:40 to 1 p.m.

George Rittenhouse, singer and entertainer will be on hand to celebrate Valentine’s Day from 10:30 11:30 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 12. There will be a special lunch and party that day.

The following activities are available throughout the week to anyone ages 50 and older at the Falls Active Adult Center:

Mondays: 10:30 a.m. to noon, Craft Club meets. Many projects are offered with all supplies provided.

Tuesdays: Brain games at lunch. Bingo following lunch.

Wednesdays: 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. walking group meets, weather permitting. Nutrition tips at lunch.

Thursdays: Nutrition talks at lunch. Bingo will be held following lunch.

Fridays: 9:30 a.m. to noon Geocaching activity, weather permitting. Free Zumba Gold from 9:15 to 10 a.m. There will be no Zumba Gold on Jan. 29 or Feb. 5.

Anyone wishing to join the Falls Active Adult Center for a hot meal each day at noon for a suggested donation of $2 for those 60 and over and $4.62 for those under 60 should call Twila at 570-388-2623 by 12:30 p.m. the day before.

COSMOPOLITAN SENIORS

Next meeting is Feb. 2

EXETER — The Cosmopolitan Seniors Club will meet again at 1 p.m. on Tuesday Feb. 2 at 1 p.m. in St. Anthony’s Center, 20 Memorial St. Hostesses are Jennifer Collura, Virginia Craig, Fran Lepo, and Kathy Loucks.

2016 dues will continue to be collected.

A Casino trip is scheduled to Sands Casino on Thursday, Feb. 18. Pickups are in Exeter and Pittston. It is not a requirement to be a club member to attend a trip.
