PITTSTON — Magisterial District Judge Alexandra Kokura Kravitz recently announced the March 2016 report for District Court 11-1-04. The courts serves Avoca, Dupont, Duryea, Hughestown and Yatesvllle boroughs, Jenkins Township, Pittston Township and Pittston City.

During March, 629 cases were filed. Criminal complaints including misdemeanor and felony charges, totaled 55 flings. Civil complaints involving amounts in controversy of up to $12,000 totaled 13 filings. Landlord-tenant complaints totaled 11 filings. A total of 448 traffic citations were filed with the court, along with an additional 102 non-traffic summary citations.

The office collected and disbursed to each municipal entity the statutory fines and costs due to each municipally according to state law as follows: $2,754.17 to Avoca; $2,594.15 to Dupont; $1,679.23 to Duryea; $752.69 to Hughestown; $986.45 to Jenkins Township; $1,262.58 to Pittston City; $1.240.84 to Pittston Township end $21.69 to Yatesville. The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania received $42,953.41 and Luzerne County received $6,263.23 for the month.
