Local Chatter: Wyoming Area grad Carrie Pozaic earns NFHCA Academic Honors

Carrie Pozaic earns honors

WORCESTER, Mass. — Wyoming resident Carrie Pozaic was one of 13 field hockey student-athletes from Worcester Polytechnic Institute to be honored for her work inside the classroom by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association.

The honor recognizes student-athletes who have achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher through the first semester of the 2015 fall semester while the Scholars of Distinction have achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.90 or higher.

Simon participates in Model UN

WILKES-BARRE — Rachel Simon, a resident of Pittston, was one of 15 King’s students that recently participated in the National Model United Nations (UN) in New York City. The group was assigned to represent Sri Lanka in seven different mock UN committees and they visited the Sri Lankan Mission to the UN to receive a briefing.

Simon is a senior international business major at King’s and a dean’s list student. She is a member of Beta Gamma Sigma Business Honor Society, Epsilon Chi Omicron International Business Honor Society, and Omicron Delta Epsilon Economics Honors Society.

She is also member of the Rock Climbing Club and a tutor for the Writing Center. She is the daughter of Corrine Simon.
