Blood pressure screenings April 19

PITTSTON — Highland Manor will conduct free blood pressure screenings at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 19 at the Pittston Active Adult Center.

Tickets are on sale for the Spring Fling dance to be held from 7 to 10 p.m. on Saturday, April 23. Cost is $7.50 which includes music by George Rittenhouse and light refreshments. Tickets will not be sold at the door.

Tickets are on sale for the annual Senior Dinner Dance to be held from noon to 4 p.m. on Thursday, May 5 at Genetti’s Hotel in Wilkes-Barre. Cost to attend is $21 for seniors over the age of 60 and $23 for seniors under the age of 60. Doors open at 11:30 a.m. and dinner will be served at 12:15 p.m. Entertainment will be by King Henry and the Showmen. For further information, contact Connie or Hazel at the center.

Line dancing classes with Sue are held at 10 a.m. Mondays. Exercise classes with Catherine and Ruth are held at 9 a.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Sandi offers chair exercise classes at 11 a.m. Tuesdays and 9 a.m. Thursdays. There is no charge for these classes.

Ceramic Class with Ann is held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesdays while Bingo with Ron and Amy is held from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday and Friday mornings and also from 1 to 3 p.m. on Wednesday afternoons.

The center offers ballroom dance lessons with Joseph Kull, instructor at 2 p.m. Fridays. A small fee is charged.

Craft group meets April 18

EXETER TWP. — Craft group will make clay necklaces and earrings on Monday, April 18 at the Falls Active Adult Center.

A staff member from state Rep. Aaron Kaufer’s office will be on hand from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 20 to assist area residents with any state-related issues they may have.

Lillian Russell-Burnett, Nutrition Education Advisor for Penn State Cooperative Extension, will conducts classes on teaching people how to eat better for less from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Thursdays, April 21 and 28.

Bingo will be held at 12:45 p.m. Thursday, April 21.

Neck and shoulder massages as well as manicures will be given by students from the Susquehanna County Career & Technology Center from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Monday, April 25 under the supervision of Massage Therapy Instructor Jessica Warner.


Meeting will be April 19

JENKINS TWP. — The Jenkins Township Senior Citizens will hold its regular monthly meeting at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 19. President Jean Mudlock will preside and host and hostess for this meeting will be Jack and Dorothy Albert.

Following the business meeting, refreshments will be served and Bingo will follow. Dues will also be collected.

New members are always welcome.


Meeting will be April 21

PITTSTON — St. Joseph’s Senior Social Club will hold its next meeting at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 21 St. Joseph Marello Parish Center.

Discussion includes upcoming events. Refreshments will be served and bingo and games will be played afterwards.

April’s servers are Charlotte Antolik, Ann Daggett, Josephine Fasciana, Maureen Leone, and Evelyn Levandoski.
