‘Nutrition Links’ continues May 17

PITTSTON — Lillian Burnett from Penn State Extension will present a program called “Nutrition Links” from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. on Tuesdays, May 17, 24, and 31 at the Pittston Active Adult Center. This series of lessons and activities on various topics will help residents care and feed their families on a limited budget by learning how to prepare low-cost quick meals, food safety skills, how to read food labels, choosing fruits and vegetables. Registration is required.

All center members ages 90 and older will be honored with a special lunch on Wednesday, May 18. Following dinner, Highland Manor will hold a special bingo from 1 to 2 p.m. Regular bingo will follow from 2 to 3 p.m.

Line dancing classes with Sue are held at 10 a.m. Mondays. Exercise classes with Catherine and Ruth are held at 9 a.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Sandi offers chair exercise classes at 11 a.m. Tuesdays and 9 a.m. Thursdays. There is no charge for these classes.

Ceramic Class with Ann is held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesdays while Bingo with Ron and Amy is held from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday and Friday mornings and also from 1 to 3 p.m. on Wednesday afternoons.

Shuffleboard matches are held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday mornings where the men challenge the women.

Craft class with Faye and Rosanne is held at 10 a.m. on Thursday mornings, as is Wii bowling with John.

The center offers ballroom dance lessons with Joseph Kull, instructor at 2 p.m. on Thursdays. A small fee is charged.

FALLS ACTIVE ADULT CENTER

Wreath-making May 16

EXETER TWP. — Falls Active Adult Center members will make living wreaths from 10:30 a.m. to noon and from 1 to 2 p.m. on Monday, May 16. This class will be limited to five people at a time, so reservations are required. All supplies provided.

A staff member from state Rep. Karen Boback’s office will be available from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 18 to answer any state related questions you have.

A special birthday party and lunch for members aged 90 and older will be held Wednesday, May 18 and will feature a sing-along with the Jolly Seniors with music from the ’20s and ’30s after lunch.

Lunch & Learn will be 12:15 p.m. on Thursday, May 19 and will feature Kelly Lunger from Caregivers of America to discuss ways to stay mentally and physically healthy during one’s senior years.

The center will host a flea market and bake sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 4. The Falls Lions Club will be selling food. Outside space is available for $10. Contact Twila Watkins at the center to reserve a space.
