Showers, thunderstorms expected into the weekend

Though some sunshine is possible this weekend, showers and thunderstorms are expected to roll into the Wyoming Valley.

The National Weather Service indicated that it was 62 degrees as of 5:54 a.m. at the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport, with fair skies reported.

Mostly sunny skies are expected today, with a high near 80.

Cloudy skies are expected tonight, along with patchy fog after midnight. Showers will become likely into early Friday morning, and the low will be around 63.

Friday will bring cloudy skies, along with showers and the possibility for thunderstorms after noon. A 60 percent chance of rain is predicted, and up to a quarter of an inch of rain could fall. The high will be near 78.

Mostly cloudy skies will carry over into Friday night, along with a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 11 p.m. and a slight chance of showers until 3 a.m. Less than a tenth of an inch of rain is expected, and the low will be around 59.

Saturday will bring mostly sunny skies, and the high will be near 82.

Clouds will move back into the region on Saturday night, with showers becoming likely after 2 a.m. The low will be around 63.

Cloudy skies will round out the weekend on Sunday, along with showers likely after 2 p.m. The high will be near 77.

Those mostly cloudy skies will carry over into Sunday night, along with a 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. The low will be around 61.
