PITTSTON — Ashley and Jamie Scarantino, children of Carl and Shelly Scarantino, Pittston, recently graduated from their respective schools.
Ashley graduated from Pittston Area High School with honors with distinction and will continue her education at the SUNY Cortland, where she will major in exercise science and be a member of their gymnastics team.
Jamie graduated cum laude from King’s College with a double major in accounting and human resource management. He will reside in Alexandria, Virginia working for Kearney & Company as a staff accountant.
Maternal grandparents are John and Ann Marie Lizak, Dupont and paternal grandparents are Carl and Catherine Scarantino, Pittston.

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. — Tanner Engelhart, Wyoming, was named to the Seton Hall University dean’s list for the 2016 spring semester.
Residents participate in conference
SCRANTON —Peter Kulick, Pittston, and Nicholas Chaump, West Pittston, were two of 24 University of Scranton students to participate in the 2016 Institute of Electrical and Electronics (IEEE) Region 2 Student Activities Conference held at Cleveland State University of Ohio.
University of Scranton students took first, second and third place honors at the competition.
Residents graduate from Kutztown
KUTZTOWN — The following Greater Pittston residents recently graduated from Kutztown University with their respective degrees.
Madeline M. Dworak, Dupont, received his Bachelor of Science degree in criminal justice/paralegal studies; Ronald M. Musto Jr., Hughestown, received his Bachelor of Science degree in leisure and sport studies; Maria Christine Sagliocco, Pittston, received her Bachelor of Science in Education degree in special education; and Mary Kathryn Turek, Pittston, received her Master of Arts degree in counseling, magna cum laude.
Locals study abroad
WILKES-BARRE — Several local King’s College students recently completed a faculty-led study abroad experience.
Kristi Naylor, Duryea, was among a group of 10 King’s students who traveled to Eastern Europe as part of the King’s College Geographies of Europe Series. The trip included excursions to the Czech Republic, Poland, and Slovakia. She is a senior majoring in psychology.
Jessica Pacovsky, Exeter, was among a group of 13 King’s students who traveled to the Los Amigos Biological Research Station in the lowland Amazon forest in Peru. She is a junior majoring in environmental studies with a minor in geography.
Carissa Smith, Exeter, was among a group of 15 King’s students who travelled to Greece with stops in Athens, Tolo, Ancient Olympia, and Delphi. She is a sophomore majoring in Physician Assistant Studies.

READING — Katelyn Colleran, Pittston, was recently named to Alvernia University’s dean’s list for the spring 2016 semester. Colleran is studying early childhood education with special education at Alvernia and is a graduate of Coughlin.
