The Wyoming Valley is in store for a sunny weekend, but some severe thunderstorms are possible on Friday.

According to a hazardous weather outlook issued by the National Weather Service, a cold front will move across the region Friday and bring showers and thunderstorms. A few of the thunderstorms could be severe and produce damaging winds and hail.

The National Weather Service indicated it was 60 degrees as of 6:54 a.m. at the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport, and fair skies were reported.

Sunny skies are expected today, with a high near 90. Mostly clear skies will follow tonight, with a low around 65.

Partly sunny skies will round out the week Friday, along with a 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 9 a.m. Up to a quarter of an inch of rain is possible, and the high will be near 91.

Mostly cloudy skies will follow into Friday night, along with a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 1 a.m. Up to a quarter of an inch of rain is possible, and the low will be around 70.

Mostly sunny skies are predicted for Saturday, with a high near 91. Mostly clear skies will follow into Saturday night, with a low around 68.

Sunny skies will round out the weekend on Sunday, with a high near 91. Mostly cloudy skies are expected into Sunday night, with a low around 70.
