Mix of sun and clouds, hot and humid today for Wyoming Valley


The forecast for the weekend calls for a mix of sun and clouds under hot and humid conditions with a chance of showers and thunderstorms for the Wyoming Valley.

The National Weather Service indicated it was 81 degrees as of 8:54 a.m. at the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport, with a few clouds reported.

Today’s forecast includes a mix of sun and clouds with a possible afternoon thunderstorm. Some of the area storms could produce heavy rainfall. The high will reach near 92 with heat-index values as high as 100. The chance of precipitation is 50 percent.

Tonight will be much of the same with a chance of showers and thunderstorms. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 74.

Sunday’s forecast calls for showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly after 1 p.m. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 88. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent.

Sunday night continues the chance of showers and thunderstorms which could produce heavy rainfall. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 69.

Monday is expected to be partly sunny with a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms with a high near 87.
