Make stress balls Sept. 22
PITTSTON — Teen Advisory Group is hosting a “Make Your Own Stress Ball” night at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 22. Call the library or email email@example.com to sign up.
Tales on Tuesday with Miss Kristen will begin Tuesday, Sept. 20 and run until Tuesday Oct. 25. The program features age appropriate stories, songs, activities, and free play for infants, toddlers and pre-school age children. The program is as follows:
• Books and Babies – for ages newborn to 18 months, 9:30 a.m.
• Terrific Twos – for ages 18 months to 3 years, 10:30 a.m.
• Preschool Pals – ages 3 to 5 years, 11:30 a.m.
Registration is required and sign-ups are available in the children’s wing or by calling the children’s department.
A Taste of Greater Pittston will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 25. This event includes samples and tastings from local restaurants, bakeries, caterers, food trucks, plus wine and beer connoisseurs. And, new this year, a guest chef and food trucks! Entertainment will be provided, plus indoor and outdoor seating. Tickets are $30 per person and available for purchase at the library. Seating is limited to 200.
A Craft Club for adults called “Crafter Work” will hold classes at 6 p.m. Tuesdays, Sept. 27 and Oct. 4. At the Sept. 27 session, participants will craft Deco Mesh Pumpkin Wreaths which can be made into a Jack O’Lantern. This class is $15 per person and all supplies are included. At the the Oct. 4 session, crafters will paint a Rustic Stacked Pumpkin. This class is $25 and all supplies are included. Call the library at 570-654-9565 to register.
Friends of the Pittston Memorial Library meet at 6:30 p.m. on the fourth Monday of every month. New members are always welcome.

Public speaking workshop Sept. 22
WEST PITTSTON — A public speaking workshop will be held at 6:30 p.m. the following Thursdays: Sept. 22 and 29. This class is led by internationally known author Mark Stavish, M.A., and he will walk through the basics of public speaking and help participants become a relaxed, informative and credible speaker.
A Mehndi Henna Workshop will be held at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 20. Henna has been used to adorn young women’s bodies as part of social and holiday celebrations since the late Bronze age in the eastern Mediterranean. In this workshop, participants will explore classic henna designs and apply one of them, or a design of their creation, on their hands. At-home care instructions will be provided.
Teen Advisory Board (TAB) will be held from 6 to 6:30 p.m. every Tuesday from Sept. 20 until Nov. 29. Members will get to express their interests, ideas for programs and recommendations for library purchases. Snacks will be provided.
Kindergarten Readiness Program is held at 1 p.m. every Friday. This early-literacy enhanced program is designed to introduce children to the library, get them interested in books and develop the skills needed for school. Parents can spend some fun one-on-one time with their child, or grandchild, as we read books together, sing songs, play games and make crafts centered around the weekly, kid-friendly theme. Learn pre-reading techniques that can be done at home to enhance their skills. Register by Wednesday of each week.

‘Podlark’ discussions begin Sept. 19
WYOMING — The library will hold a discussion group during the second season of “Podlark.” The discussion group will meeting from 5 to 6 p.m. Monday, Sept. 19 for a season one catch-up. The season two discussion will be held from 5 to 6 p.m. every Monday beginning Sept. 26 through Nov. 28.
A Minecraft arts and craft program will be held from 11 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 24. The program is free and open to all ages. Contact the library to register.
Reading help will be available at the library for children in grades 1-4 from 1 to 3 p.m. every Wednesday. Call the library to register.

Book discussion Sept. 19
LAFLIN — The Laflin Book Discussion Group will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 19 in the community room of the Laflin Borough Building.
