Sunshine and cooler temperatures to stick around; showers possible on Thursday

    Sunshine and cooler temperatures are expected as the week rolls along, and the region could also see some rain on Thursday.

    Luzerne County remains under a frost advisory until 9 a.m. this morning. A frost advisory means that areas of frost are expected, and sensitive outdoor plants may be killed if left uncovered.

    The National Weather Service indicated it was 36 degrees as of 6:54 a.m. at the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport, and fair skies were reported.

    Patchy frost is possible before 9 a.m. this morning — otherwise, sunny skies are expected. Today’s high will be near 63.

    Partly cloudy skies will follow into tonight, with a low around 44.

    Mostly sunny skies are predicted for Wednesday, with a high near 65. Partly cloudy skies will carry over into Wednesday night, with a low around 49.

    Mostly cloudy skies will return on Thursday, along with a 40 percent chance of showers. The high will be near 64.

    Partly cloudy skies are predicted for Thursday night, with a low around 42.
