It is expected to be a rainy day today in the Wyoming Valley, but sunshine is expected to return for most of the weekend.

The National Weather Service indicated it was 37 degrees as of 5:54 a.m. at the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport, and light rain was reported.

Rain is likely today, and up to half an inch of rain is possible. Winds could also gust as high as 24 miles per hour. Today’s high will be near 47.

Rain will continue to be likely before 1 a.m. tonight, followed by a chance of showers overnight. Up to a quarter of an inch of rain is possible, and the low will be around 40.

Mostly cloudy skies will gradually become sunny on Friday, with a high near 51. Partly cloudy skies will follow into Friday night, with a low around 38.

Partly sunny skies are predicted for Saturday, and the high will be near 65. Mostly cloudy skies will follow into Saturday night, along with a slight chance of showers. The low will be around 47.

Mostly cloudy skies will wrap up the weekend on Sunday, along with a slight chance of showers. The high will be near 57.

Mostly cloudy skies will follow into Sunday night, with a low around 39.
