Snow, wintry mix, and rain is forecast for the Wyoming Valley through the midweek.
According to a hazardous weather outlook issued by the National Weather Service, a system will bring snow to the region on Tuesday morning. That snow will eventually change to a mix of snow, sleet, and freeze rain in the afternoon before turning entirely to rain in the evening.
No watches or advisories have been issued for Luzerne County.
The forecast
The National Weather Service indicated it was 11 degrees as of 6:54 a.m. at the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport, and fair skies were reported.
Clouds are expected to increase today, with a high near 23. Mostly cloudy skies will follow into tonight, with a low around 17.
Snow is likely before 5 p.m. Tuesday, followed by a wintry mix into the evening hours. Less than half an inch of snow is possible, and little or no ice accumulation is expected. The high will be near 33.
A wintry mix is expected before 11 p.m. Tuesday night, followed by rain into the overnight hours. Little or no ice and snow accumulation is expected, and the low will be around 31.
Wednesday will bring rain before 8 a.m., followed by a slight chance of showers and cloudy skies for the rest of the day. The high will be near 45.
Mostly cloudy skies will carry over into Wednesday night, along with a slight chance of showers. The low will be around 37.
