AVOCA — A borough man was arrested Tuesday after it was discovered there was an outstanding warrant for his arrest, according to police.

According to police Chief David Homschek:

Joseph Zurenda, 35, of Main Street, was also arrested on multiple drug charges related to the production of methamphetamine.

Zurenda was found in the passenger seat of a vehicle, which was in a PNC Bank parking lot. He was taken into custody on the active warrant charge.

During a search of the vehicle, police found chemicals and drug paraphernalia used to manufacture methamphetamine.

Zurenda was lodged in the Luzerne County Correctional Facility and arraigned on the charges of possession with the intent to manufacture a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of chemicals used to manufacture a controlled substance, possession of pseudoephedrine to manufacture methamphetamine and risking or causing a catastrophe.

Zurenda remains jailed in lieu of $75,000 straight bail.
