Local student wins national scholarship

KINGSTON — Connor P. McGowan, Pittston resident and student at Wyoming Seminary College Preparatory School, has won the National Merit MetLife Foundation Scholarship. McGowan plans to pursue electrical engineering during his post-secondary studies.

National Merit Scholarship Corporation awards sponsored scholarships to students who meet necessary requirements, including the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test, which serves as an initial screen of program entrants.

KUTZTOWN — Evan Musto, Exeter, has been awarded the Esther Willits History Scholarship at Kutztown University. Musto is a graduate of Wyoming Area High School.

The Esther Willits History Scholarship is awarded to a sophomore history major, history with paralegal major or a secondary education social studies major with good academic standing. This scholarship is the legacy of the late Dr. Esther Willits, a KU alumna, former professor of history and a founding member of Kutztown University’s Phi Alpha Theta Honor Society chapter.
