The chance for rain is expected to linger in the Wyoming Valley through the midweek.

The National Weather Service reported that it was 44 degrees as of 6:54 a.m. at the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport, and fair skies were reported.

Clouds are expected to increase throughout today, and the high will be near 67.

Cloudy skies will follow into tonight, along with a 40 percent chance of showers after 1 a.m. Less than a tenth of an inch of rain is expected, and the low will be around 49.

Rain will be likely into Tuesday, and up to half an inch of total rainfall is expected. The high will be near 58.

Tuesday night is also expected to bring a 70 percent chance of rain before 11 p.m., followed by a chance of showers overnight. Up to a quarter of an inch of total rainfall is expected, and the low will be around 52.

Mostly cloudy skies are predicted for Wednesday, along with a 40 percent chance of showers before 2 p.m. The high will be near 70.

Mostly cloudy skies will carry over into Wednesday night, with a low around 56.
