WEST WYOMING — Borough council members want to send a warning to anyone illegally dumping garbage and other non-recyclables at the recycling station: it will cost you.

Councilman Mike Dolan announced during Monday’s regular council meeting the borough has been having problems with individuals sneaking into the recycling center and using the space as their personal dumping grounds.

So far, he said, two people from outside the borough have been caught and fined up to $395. However, the council members believe there are still more offenders out there.

To combat the issue, the borough has increased police presence at the site and also encourages officers and employees to write down license plate numbers to try and track down the offenders and stop non-residents from taking advantage of something meant for borough residents.
