PITTSTON — The Pittston Area Patriots Basketball Club, comprised of students in grades five and six, competed in two basketball leagues this past fall and winter.

They played at the Backcourt Hoops League at the Riverfront Sports Complex in Scranton, finishing the regular season at 7-5 and earning a sixth seed out of 14 teams and placed into the top Gold Division tournament.

They were eliminated in the second round by the top-seeded Valley View Cougars.

In the East Side Basketball League, played at the Oblates gym, the Patriots finished the regular season with a record of 16-2 and their season came to a end on Sunday, March 19 with a 47-41 victory over a team from Plains.

The Patriots were awarded trophies for both the regular season and playoff championships at the East Side Basketball League as they finished their successful season with an overall record of 26-8.
