Six Wyoming Valley Conference players named all-state

Six players from the Wyoming Valley Conference were selected to all-state first-teams by the Pennsylvania High School Coaches Softball Association.

A total of 24 WVC players were honored throughout the four classifications, and 336 players in all were selected either first-team, second-team or honorable mention.

Holy Redeemer sophomore pitcher Kristen Coffay and freshman shortstop Morgan Bienkowski were chosen first-team all-stars in Class 2A. Nanticoke sophomore third baseman Jenna Lipowski and Wyoming Area junior outfielder Bree Bednarski were picked to the Class 3A first-team.

Hazleton Area landed two players on the Class 4A first-team, sisters Maria and Megan Trivelpiece. Maria, a senior, played second base. Megan, a sophomore, played first base.

Also in Class 2A, Northwest senior Maggie Murphy was selected to the second-team as a utility player and Redeemer senior Kaya Swanek was an honorable mention selection as a first baseman.

Pittston Area junior outfielder Mindina Lieback was the only WVC player chosen to the Class 3A second-team.

Ten WVC players were selected honorable mention in Class 3A: Tunkhannock senior third baseman Traci Kromko; Berwick senior pitcher Moriah Lynn; Wyoming Area senior shortstop Emily Wolfgang; Pittston Area junior utility player Taylor Baloga; Pittston Area junior third baseman Abby Bradigan; Pittston Area sophomore shortstop Taryn Ashby; Nanticoke sophomore pitcher Leandra Ramos; Nanticoke freshman utility player Miranda Bohn; Pittston Area freshman first baseman Nina Cencetti; and Wyoming Area freshman pitcher Gwen Glatz.

Class 4A honorable mention selections were Hazleton Area senior shortstop Mikaela Browdy, Hazleton Area senior outfielder Abby Sachse, Hazleton Area senior outfielder Lexi Wolk and Wyoming Valley West sophomore catcher Audi Welles.
