Solid week for Pittston Area girls soccer team

It only took Maddy Mimnaugh 16 seconds to regain the lead for Pittston Area. From there, the Patriots didn’t look back.

After Hazleton Area’s Kaitlyn Beiler scored at 55:21 in the second half, Mimnaugh scored 16 seconds later to give the Patriots a 2-1 win over the Cougars on Thursday.

Mimnaugh also scored a goal for the Patriots in the first half.

Pittston Area 1, Berwick 1 2OT

Megan Florio scored for Pittston Area and Madison Coolbaugh netted a goal for Berwick which would result in a tie after two overtimes on Monday.

Taryn Ashby made eight saves for Pittston Area and Raina Goulstone stopped 11 shots for Berwick.

Pittston Area 2, Hazleton Area 1

Pittston Area received two goals from Maddy Mimnaugh as they were able to double up on Hazleton Area on the road on Thursday.

Kaitlyn Beiler scored the lone goal of the night for the Cougars.

BOYS SOCCER

MMI Prep 1, Wyoming Area 0

MMI Prep was outshot 26-3, but Jay Solgama managed to score the only goal to give the Preppers the victory.

Solgama scored unassisted about 13 minutes into the second half.

Hazleton Area 5, Pittston Area 0

Hazleton Area defeated Pittston Area at home on Thursday, Oct. 8 with a final score of 5-0.
