Sports briefs: Greater Pittston Little League signups underway during the week of Jan. 18

Pittston Twp. LL registrations this week

PITTSTON TWP. — Pittston Township Little League Baseball and Softball registrations will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 18 and Wednesday, Jan. 20 at the municipal building, 421 Broad St.

Cost is $80 per child, $130 for a family and $50 for T-Ball.

WA parents to meet Jan. 20

EXETER — The Wyoming Area Girls Basketball Parents Association will meet at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 20 at the Secondary Center. The annual Coaches vs. Cancer game will be held on Thursday, Jan. 21 against Northwest in the Secondary Center gymnasium. The night will also be Elementary Night.

Duryea Little League registration

DURYEA — Duryea Little League will hold registrations for Tee Ball, Coach Pitch, Minors, Majors and Softball divisions from 6 to 8 p.m. Jan. 19, 20, 26 and 27 at the Duryea Borough building, 315 Main St.

Fees are $50 for T-ball, $80 for a single player or $130 per family for all other divisions. Copy of birth certificate is required.

Blue N’ Gold Skate game Jan. 22

PITTSTON TWP. — The annual Blue and Gold Skate Game between Pittston Area and Wyoming Area will be held on Friday, Jan. 22 at the Revolution Ice Center in Pittston Township.

The junior varsity teams will “Battle for the Stick” at 7 p.m. as the varsity teams will “Battle for the Skate” at 8:45 p.m. The charity event is hosted by Wyoming Area. This year’s proceeds will benefit Little Eric’s Foundation.

Rams looking for volunteers

WEST PITTSTON — The West Pittston Rams Youth Football and Cheerleading organization is looking for a few volunteers for the 2016 board.

Letters of Intent should be submitted by Saturday, Jan. 23 for the following positions: President, Vice President of Football, Vice President of Cheer, Secretary, Treasurer, Safety, Public Relations/Press and Concessions. WPLL holding registrations

WEST PITTSTON — The West Pittston Little League will be holding 2016 registrations in the board room above the concession stand on the following dates: 6 to 8 p.m. Jan. 20; 9 a.m. to noon Jan. 23; 6 to 8 p.m. Jan. 27; 9 a.m. to noon Jan. 30; noon to 3 p.m. Jan. 30.

Registration is $75 per child with an additional amount of $30 for a second child in the same family and $20 for any additional children in the same family after that. The registration fee covers the child’s hat, shirt, pants and socks. There is an additional $50 per family for the fundraiser. Bring three proofs of residence including a utility bill and two other forms, such as vehicle registration, insurance card, voter registration, school records or medical records.

WA lacrosse teams sponsoring breakfast

EXETER — A sausage and pancake breakfast to benefit both the boys and girls lacrosse team will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 23 at the Knight of Columbus, 55 S. Main St., Pittston.

Cost is $10 for adult and $6 for students, and includes one raffle chance per ticket sold. Advance reservations can be made through Frank DeAngelo via email at or by phone at 570-301-4859, or through one of the coaches.

PA Girls Lacrosse meeting Jan. 25

YATESVILLE — The Pittston Area High School girls lacrosse club will hold a meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 25 in the high school cafeteria, 5 Stout St. All new and returning players and parents are asked to attend.

Exeter Little League registration

EXETER — The Exeter Lions Little League will hold baseball and softball registrations on the following dates at the Exeter Scout Home: 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Jan. 28; 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Feb. 9; 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Feb. 11; and noon to 2 p.m. Feb. 13.

The Scout Home is located on Wyoming Avenue and Lincoln Street. Entrance is located behind the Exeter Borough Building, 1101 Wyoming Ave.

Duryea Wildcats to meet

DURYEA — The Duryea Wildcats football organization will hold a bi-law meeting at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 2 at the Duryea Borough building.

KOC 372 holding free throw contest

PITTSTON — The Knights of Columbus JFK Council 372 will host a free throw contest at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 30 for children ages 9 to 14 at the Martin L. Mattei Middle School, 120 New St. All winners for their age group will advance to the district championship, which will be held in February.

JENKINS TWP. — Registrations for the Jenkins Township Little League will continue until Saturday, Feb. 6. Visit to sign up. There will be a walk in sign up at the Jenkins Township Municipal Building, 46 1/2 Main St, from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. Costs are as follows:

Teeball — Ages 4 to 7, $50

Coach Pitch — Ages 6 to 9, $75

Minors — Ages 8 to 11, $75

Majors — Boys and girls ages 9 to 12, $75

Jr. Teeners — Ages 13 to 14, $130

Sr. Teeners — Ages 15 to 16, $130

All junior and senior Teeners in the Greater Pittston area must sign up through the Jenkins Township Little League online system.

PITTSTON — Pittston City Little League sign ups for participants ages 4 to 13 will be held at the field house at Sullivan Park on Hillpark Avenue on the following dates and times:
