With Tyrell George and Lou Falzone playing under the weather, Wyoming Area senior Guy Fasciana poured in 27 points in a 58-50 loss to Berwick in boys basketball action.
Fasciana scored his 1,000th career point in the loss. The game was stopped and Fasciana was presented with a ball to recognize his accomplishment. Fasciana made nine shots from the field, including a trio of three-pointers. He was also 7-of-10 from the free throw line.
January 1996
Five Wyoming Area wrestlers recorded pins as the Warriors beat up on Bishop Hoban, 53-24.
Brad Kanarr (119), Preston Faust (140), Al Felker (145), Tim Smith (160) and Donny Rose (hwt.) were the Wyoming Area wrestlers who picked up pins. The Warriors were also awarded three forfeits.
January 1986
Billy Jones hit a game-winning 15-footer to save Seton Catholic boys basketball’s season and propel the Eagles to a 40-39 win over Wyoming Seminary.
The win put the Eagles two games behind Seminary with six games to play. Seton Catholic’s Paul Orzel and Tim Dobbs each tallied 14 points to lead the Eagles.
January 1976
The Pittston Area wrestling team excelled at the annual Bishop Hoban Tournament.
Ray Scoda took second place in the tournament and also recorded the fastest pin of all the competitors. He pinned one of his opponents in 13 seconds.
