Wyoming Area and Pittston Area finished their boys basketball regular seasons Thursday night but will go into Sunday afternoon still uncertain about their opponents in the first round of the District 2 Class AAA tournament Tuesday night.
Both the Warriors and Patriots will hit the road, but they do not know their destinations until the Lackawanna League Division 2 title is decided in a playoff. A division championship game win by Honesdale or North Pocono over Delaware Valley would jump that team into the third seed because all division champions get seeded above other teams. If Delaware Valley wins the division title, then the District 2 Class AAA field would only have two division champions seeded at the top rather than three.
Wyoming Area went 6-7 as a Division 2 member, also playing Division 3 teams once in its Wyoming Valley Conference schedule. The Warriors will be seeded 10th in the 16-team Class AAA field and will play at either Berwick, North Pocono or Honesdale.
Pittston Area went 3-11 in Division 1 of the WVC and is seeded 13th. The Patriots will play at the fourth seed – GAR, Nanticoke or Crestwood.
Defending champion Scranton Prep, the Lackawanna League Division 1 champion, is the top seed.
