WA Diamond Club parents to meet March 16

EXETER — The Wyoming Area Diamond Club parents will be at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 16 at the Wyoming Area Secondary Center, Room 164. All parents of players in seventh through 12th grade are invited to attend.

PA baseball boosters to host fundraiser

PITTSTON — The Pittston Area Baseball Booster Club presents a fun-filled night of food, drinks, and basket raffles from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, April 1 at The Red Mill on 340 S. PA football boosters scholarship

YATESVILLE — The Pittston Area School District Football Booster Club has established a scholarship program for high school seniors who desire to continue their education. A one-time $250 scholarship, based primarily on financial need, will be awarded to a former football player for the first year of college.

An official Pittston Area Football Booster Club application must be returned to the guidance office no later than Monday, March 14. Provide any additional information relevant to the committee. Go to www.pafootballboosterclub.com to download the application.

The next booster club meeting will be held at 6p.m. Tuesday, April 5 in the high school cafeteria.

Avoca/Dupont LL to hold signups

AVOCA — The Avoca/Dupont Little League will hold sign-ups from 6 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, March 13 at the Avoca Borough Building and from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Monday, March 14 at the upper Avoca Little League field clubhouse.

These will be the final dates to sign up for the spring season. Registration fee for T-ball, Coach Pitch, Minor and Major baseball is $65 per player and $80 for family of two or more. Junior and Senior Teener League baseball, which will again combine with Pittston, has a fee of $95 each player. Softball players’ fee for Pittston Area is $80 per player or $130 for two or more.

WA softball Meet the Warriors March 17

EXETER — The Wyoming Area Softball Parents Association will host “Meet the Warriors” at 6 p.m. on Thursday, March 17 in the Wyoming Area Secondary Center Cafeteria. Introduction of team rosters for both varsity and junior high teams will be announced by their respective coaches. Pizza fundraisers will be available for pickup at the conclusion of program. All varsity and junior high player’s families are invited to attend.

American Legion signups March 20

PITTSTON TWP. — Any player interested in playing for the Greater Pittston American Legion living in Duryea, Exeter, Exeter Township, Hughestown, Pittston, West Pittston, West Wyoming, Wyoming and Pittston Township (west of the Pittston Bypass) can sign up from 9 to 11 a.m. on Sunday, March 20 at the Italian American Citizens Club on Oak Street in Pittstown Township. Registration fee is $125 per player and $200 per family.

Valley Laxerz seeking players

WEST PITTSTON — The Valley Laxerz lacrosse organization is looking for additional girls to fill out their fourth, fifth, sixth grade and junior high girls lacrosse teams. Teams will play approximately 10 games and one local tournament during the season against teams from the Back Mountain, Scranton, Mountain Top and Kingston areas. Any girl who presently resides in the Wyoming Valley is eligible to play.

Lady Striders announce program

WYOMING — The Wyoming Valley Lady Striders will host a Couch to 5k program. Starting on Monday, March 21, the Striders will meet three times per week. The goal is to race in the River Street 3-Mile Race on May 15 in Wilkes-Barre. Cost for participate is $40 and includes entry to race and membership to the Wyoming Valley Lady Striders.
