PHILADELPHIA — For the third straight year, Temple University senior golfer Brandon Matthews has been named to the Division I PING All-Northeast Region team. The teams from the six regions were selected by the Golf Coaches Association of America.

Matthews, a Pittston Area graduate and Dupont native, who placed in the top-10 in five of the nine tournaments he completed this season, led the Owls with a 72.8 stroke average. The Dupont native tied for first at the Cornell Spring South Invitational and finished his career with a three-under 213 at the American Athletic Conference Championship to place fifth overall.

Matthews, who tied the Temple career record for individual titles with eight, will also was a four-time all-conference honoree. As a junior, he became the first Temple player to earn All-America honors since 1988 when we was named Honorable Mention All-American.
