PITTSTON — The Pittston Junior Patriots will host football and cheerleading signups from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday, June 12 at the field on Swallow Street. Any Pittston Area or Wyoming Area students, boys or girls, between ages 5 and 14, are eligible to sign up.

Items needed in order to sign up are a doctor’s note, physical and a copy of birth certificate. Registration is $10 per child, which does not include jerseys, spikes or cheerleader accessories, along with one mandatory fundraiser.

St. Joseph Marello golf tourney is June 12

WILKES-BARRE — The 22nd annual St. Joseph Marello Parish golf tournament is set for Sunday, June 12 at the Wilkes-Barre Municipal Golf Course with a tee time of 8 a.m. The fee is $80 per golfer which includes golf, cart, dinner after the tournament and a variety of prizes.

Registration forms are now available on line at and paper applications will be available in the church’s vestibule.

Avoca/Dupont LL meeting June 12

AVOCA — The Avoca/Dupont Little League will hold its monthly meeting at noon Sunday, June 12 at the Little League field immediately following the fundraising coin drop.

Those willing to volunteer for the coin drop should meet at the field at 8 a.m.

WA softball to host banquet

EXETER — The Wyoming Area Softball Parents Association will host a public end-of-season banquet from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 15 at the Fox Hill Country Club, 454 Tunkhannock Ave., Exeter. Kiwanis Club golf tourney June 17

PITTSTON — The Pittston Kiwanis Club will hold its annual golf tournament Friday, June 17 at Emanon Country Club. Tee time is set for 11:30 a.m. with registration starting at 10 a.m.

Proceeds from the tournament will go to the Greater Pittston YMCA children’s programs and Kiwanis-sponsored Key Club, Builders Club, and K-Kids. The format is captain and crew and cost is $75 per golfer. For more information contact Sal Bernardi at 570-820-8459.

RailRiders’ Community Night June 22

MOOSIC — The Greater Pittston Chamber of Commerce will host the annual Greater Pittston Community Night on Wednesday, June 22 at the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders game. First pitch is 7:05 p.m.

PA tennis camp this July

HUGHESTOWN — The Pittston Area girls tennis team will host a camp for children in kindergarten through fourth grade from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Monday, July 18 to Thursday, July 21 at the courts at the Martin Mattei Middle School.

Cost is $40 per player which includes practice, T-shirt, team match, healthy peanut-free snack and all equipment. All instructors are USTA certified 10 and under coaches. The camp is part of the Middle States Rally Stars. For more information contact Susan Connors at

Dance school hosting golf tournament

WILKES-BARRE — The David Blight School of Dance will host a golf tournament at 8 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 14 at Wilkes-Barre Golf Club.

Cost for the captain and crew event is $90 per person. There will be a dinner, drinks, raffles, auctions, games, mulligans and on course competitions. Participants are asked to register by July 1.
