Annual Pittston Tomato Festival Arm Wrestling Championship set for Aug. 20 at Cooper’s

PITTSTON — The 22nd annual Pittston Tomato Festival “Arms of Steel” Arm Wrestling Championship will be held Saturday, Aug. 20 at Cooper’s Seafood Waterfront, 304 Kennedy Blvd.

Weigh-ins begin at 1:30 p.m. and wrestling will begin at 3:30 p.m. There are weight classes for men’s right hand, men’s left hand, women’s light and open, men’s right novice, men’s left novice, and masters. Entry fee is $20 for participants and free for spectators. T-shirts will be available for purchase.

The event is sponsored by Cooper’s, DeMinico Chiropractic, Toyota/Scion of Scranton, Old Mill Pine Hardware, Ransom Quarry, Atty. Joseph Novak, Bonner Chevrolet, Mobile Glass Services, Four Seasons Golf Course and Depew Heading and Air Conditioning.

Anyone interested in participating can practice at 8 p.m. Saturdays at Diane’s Internet Cafe on South Main Street. For more information contact tournament director Tom “Nitro” Simko at 570-388-8612.
