EXETER — In an exhibition, seven Wyoming Area field hockey players scored a goal to take care of GAR on Friday at the Atlas Field Complex.

The Warriors scored nine goals in the first half, with goals from Lauren Parente, Emilie Wanko, Grace Angelella, Victoria Braccini and Kari Melberger. In the second half, Cassidy Orzel and Morgan Coolbaugh scored goals.

Lexi Crossley had three assists in the win.

Parente, Wanko, Melberger and Braccini each had two goals. The Wyoming Area goalies, Katie Wolfgang and Ellie Glatz, faced just two shots throughout the game.

Coughlin 169

Despite medalists performances from a pair of Coughlin golfers, Wyoming Area slipped past Coughlin thanks to a 39 from Warrior Ryan Wrubel at Wilkes-Barre Municipal Golf Course.

Following Wrubel was Cole Coolbaugh with a 41, Nik Athmann with a 43 and Jimmy Kosco with a 44.

Nik Athmann shot a match-best 40 and Jimmy Kosco followed with a 42 to lead the Warriors to a win at Irem Temple Country Club.

Wyoming Valley West’s Martin Cryan shot a 40 to share medalist honors with Athmann. Cole Collbaugh had a 49.

Crestwood 0

The Patriots picked up a sweep against Crestwood on Friday.

No. 1 singles player Mackenzie Connors was a 6-2, 6-3 winner over Crestwood’s Kara Grenzberg. At No. 2, Abby Connors won 6-2, 6-0, while Taryn Whitman won 6-2, 6-3 in the final singles spot.

At doubles, the team of Breanna Yashkus and Madison Stanton, and Charity McLeod and Kerry Shamnosky, each won in straight sets.

Wyoming Area got wins at No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles to edge Wyoming Valley West Friday in Kingston.

Brianna Pizzano, Lea Gets and the team of Emily Cheskiewicz and Bella Scappaticci all won for the Warriors.

Dallas 1

Breanna Yashkus and Madison Stanton recorded a straight sets win in No. 1 doubles as the Patriots rolled past Dallas.

Abby Connors and Taryn Whitman nabbed singles wins.

VOLLEYBALL

Holy Redeemer 3

Pittston Area 0

Kirsten Durling had four points, three blocks and six assists, while Portia Weidlich had five points, two kills and four blocks in a loss to Holy Redeemer on Friday.

Ryanna Power had 15 digs for the locals.
