LEHMAN TWP. — Already down 3-0 just 19 minutes into the first half, Lauren Parente stopped the damage for Wyoming Area.

In the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association District 2 Class A field hockey championships, the Warriors got a goal from Parente in the 19th minute, but it wasn’t quite enough. Wyoming Area fell victim to Lake-Lehman in the opening round of the championships, 5-1, Monday on the black turf.

In the regular season, Wyoming Area finished with a 6-8 record, which was in the middle of the pack in the Wyoming Valley Conference.

The Warriors will say goodbye to 10 seniors — Lindsey Feeney, Grace Angelella, Victoria Braccini, Madison Beppler, Katie Wolfgang, Lexi Crossley, Breanna Cannell, Emilie Wanko, Madison Mulhern and Morgan Coolbaugh.

For Lake-Lehman, Carey-Anne Keiper opened her postseason with a hat trick and Sarah Sabaluski tossed in a goal and an assist in the quarterfinal win.

Keiper scored the game’s first goal just over four minutes into the night, then added another goal that gave Lehman a 3-0 lead later in the first half.

Keiper and Sabuluski scored goals in the second half to give the Black Knights breathing room, after Parente pulled Wyoming Area within 3-1 with a goal in the 19th minute of the opening half.

Wyoming Area’s Katie Wolfgang made 10 stops in goal during the defeat.
