WA Lacrosse parents meeting Feb. 22

EXETER — There will be a Wyoming Area Lacrosse parents meeting at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 22 in the secondary center, 20 Memorial St.

Future fundraising plans will be discussed which include bagging for donations at both Gerrity’s locations on Saturday, Feb. 25, a pizza sale in March and a corn hole tournament in May.

The organization will also be sponsoring bus trips to see Ohio State vs. Penn State women’s lacrosse on Saturday April 1 as well as Notre Dame vs. Army men’s lacrosse at West Point on Saturday, May. Both trips are family oriented and open to the public. More will be posted as information becomes available.

Parents of students signed up are to attend these meetings and any student interested in playing this upcoming season will need to fill out registration forms as well as participate in the buyout option prior to the beginning of the season.

Candy or buyout fees can be turned in at the meeting. Additional candy will be available for pickup should anyone need any.

Parents of players who have not signed up yet are encouraged to attend and sign up their child at the meeting.

Valley Laxerz holding free play sessions

WEST PITTSTON — The Valley Laxerz Youth Lacrosse Organization will hold free play days for interested boys and girls in grades two through eight at the West Pittston Little League building.

Boys’ sessions run from 7 top 8:30 p.m. Tuesday nights in February and girls’ sessions are from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Friday nights. These are informal sessions geared towards teaching the kids the fundamentals of lacrosse.

A limited amount of loaner equipment is available to use on a first come first serve basis. Participants are encouraged to send an email to the addresses listed below if they need to borrow or use any equipment prior to showing up for the sessions.

The Laxerz regular season runs from March to May with two practices per week and approximately 10 games played locally.

Kids are still able to participate in other spring sports while still participating in lacrosse.

Little League registration

PITTSTON — Pittston City Little League will hold 2017 registrations every Saturday and Sunday during the month of February.

Registration times at noon to 2 p.m. Saturdays and 1 to 3 p.m. Sundays. Sign ups are help in the press box at the field. Players should provide three proofs of residency and a birth certificate.

Fees are as follows: T-ball, $30; Coach Pitch, $60; Minors, $65; Majors, $65; and Juniors/Seniors, $100.

All levels of play will all be required to pay a $25 fundraising fee at time of registration.

WA Lacrosse sponsoring bus trip

EXETER — The Wyoming Area Lacrosse organizations will be sponsoring a bus trip to see the Ohio State Buckeyes take on Penn State in Women’s Lacrosse on Saturday April 1 at Penn State University.

This will be a family trip and open to men, women and children.

The bus will leave from a place to be determined at 7:30 a.m. allowing for tailgating and viewing of the campus for those who are interested. The game starts at 1:30 p.m.

Bus will leave 30-minutes after the game ends and return back to the area that evening.

Price of the trip is $40 per person and money is due at the time of the reservation. Seats will be held on a first come – first served basis.

This trip will be used as a fundraiser that will benefit the Wyoming Area Lacrosse organizations.
