American Legion sets sign ups

PITTSTON — Anyone interested in playing for Greater Pittston American Legion may sign up from 9 to 11 a.m. Sunday, March 5 at the Italian American Citizens Club, Oak Street.

Players must reside in the following communities: Duryea, Exeter, Exeter Twp., Hughestown, Pittston City, West Pittston, West Wyoming, Wyoming and Pittston Township (west of the Pittston Bypass).

Registration fee is $125 per play. New players must bring a copy of original birth certificate.

Wildcats by-law meeting is March 7

DURYEA — The Duryea Wildcats will hold their by-law meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 7 at the municipal building, 315 Main St.

The regular monthly meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 14 at the V.F.W., 429 Stephenson St.

Duryea Little League meeting March 8

DURYEA — Duryea Little League will hold its monthly meeting 7 p.m. Thursday, March 8 at Duryea VFW, 492 Stephenson St., Duryea. Topics of discussion include team assignments and opening day.

WA Lacrosse sponsoring bus trip

EXETER — The Wyoming Area Lacrosse organizations will sponsor a bus trip to see the Ohio State Buckeyes take on Penn State in Women’s Lacrosse on Saturday, April 1 at Penn State University.

This will be a family trip and open to men, women and children.

The bus will leave from a place to be determined at 7:30 a.m. allowing for tailgating and viewing of the campus for those who are interested. The game starts at 1:30 p.m.

Bus will leave 30 minutes after the game ends to return.

Price of the trip is $40 per person and money is due at the time of the reservation. Seats will be held on a first-come/first-served basis.

This trip will be used as a fundraiser to benefit the Wyoming Area Lacrosse organizations.

Valley Laxerz seeking players

WEST WYOMING — The Valley Laxerz is looking for additional players to fill out their grade 5-6 and grade 7-8 girls teams for the upcoming 2017 season.

The teams practice in March and the season runs from April until the end of May. Players participate in a recreational league consisting of teams from the Back Mountain, Mountain Top, Scranton and Kingston, playing 10 games in addition to two local tournaments.
