WILKES-BARRE — The United Way of Wilkes-Barre and the Greater Wilkes-Barre Chamber will partner Thursday with Wilkes University to host an emerging leadership mixer, aimed at getting young professionals of the “Millennial” generation to become more engaged in the Wyoming Valley Community.

According to the Pew Research Center, the Millennial generation refers to those born after 1980 who reached adulthood during the year 2000.

To spark discussion and encourage those comprising that generation to invest in the local community, brief remarks will be made by Wilkes President Patrick Leahy, Greater Wilkes-Barre Chamber President/CEO Wico van Genderan and United Way President/CEO Bill Jones.

Attendees from nearly 50 regional businesses and industries will have the opportunity to network and meet one-on-one with the speakers to talk about community involvement possibilities.
