KINGSTON TWP. — At six fire departments were battling a blaze in the Shavertown section of the township Friday night, according to law enforcement sources.
The blaze at 429 Cliffside Avenue was believed to have been started by a wood burner, a fire department official said. The building was a single home with two people living in it. Both residents made it out of the home. There were also 19 cats living in the residence. One of the cats was killed in the fire.
Due to the fire, power to neighboring homes was shutoff. Officials said they expected the power to be restored by 10:30 p.m.
