PITTSTON — Based in Pittston and under the direction of owner Jennifer Woss, Emerald Isle Step Dancers are preparing for a full dance card of parades and performances again this year, kicking off their busiest time of the year with the Third Annual Pittston City St. Patrick’s Parade on Saturday, March 5. They will also perform later that evening for The Emerald Society’s Annual St. Patrick’s Dinner at the Waldorf Club in Scranton.
Members of the group will perform at Beech Mountain in Drums on Friday, March 11 and then in the 55th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade on Saturday, March 12. Afterwards, they will perform a show at the Scranton Cultural Center’s Post Parade Party and some of the dancers will finish the day with a performance at the Ancient Order of Hibernians, Division 6, 9th Annual Parade Day Party at St Joseph Hall on Davis Street.
The Emerald Isle Step Dancers’s next stop will be in Jim Thorpe on Sunday, March 13 for the 14th Annual Carbon County St. Patrick’s Day Parade.
Other performances include Wednesday, March 16 at the Nanticoke/Pittston Area school tour; Thursday, March 17 at the Kingston/Wyoming/Harding/West Pittston school tour with evening shows at Cavanaugh’s Bar and Grill in Mountain Top, St. Elizabeth Church in Bear Creek, and Fiddlers on the Green in Larksville.
There will be performances on Friday, March 18 at Telespond and a school tour at Dunmore; Saturday, March 19 will have an evening performance at Split Rock Resort in Lake Harmony and Sunday, March 20 will see a performance at Greenbrier Living in Dallas.
While Emerald Isle Step Dancers specialize in performances and shows, some dances have that competitive spirit. As a member of the Rince Tuatha Nua (RTN) Irish Dance Organization, many dancers compete at RTN sponsored events. Some of these dancers will be competing at the upcoming Feis (Irish Dance Competition) to be held at Kalahari Resort at Pocono Manor on Saturday, April 9.
To round out the busiest of seasons, the group will hold a full-length Irish dance show on Saturday, April 23 at Wyoming Area High School, time to be announced.
